Don’t pet the bunny ~ the great Jackalope cover-up

Known by the ancients as “deerbunnies”, it wasn’t until the early 1960’s that the modern more fearsome name of “jackalope” was adopted.

Excerpt from an interview with former Area 51 employee - “Jackalopes were practically extinct in the 1950’s, but government radiation experiments on jack rabbits at area 51 caused them to grow antlers and become mean. They tried to shut down the project and wipe out all the jackalopes they’d created, but they couldn’t do it. Darn ‘lopes just kept multiplying!”

Thought for the day ~ Douglas Adams

It can hardly be a coincidence that no language on Earth has ever produced the expression ‘as pretty as an airport’.

Rest Area Madness

Jeff was looking for a new pet yesterday, and he came across that lovely animal in the video. Truly a sight to behold. But then got to wondering about where something like that might have come from. And there it was, rest areas.

If the camera that took the picture of the rest area sign had panned around towards the “toilet” what we would have seen is a giant sandbox instead of the concrete bunker we’re more familiar with. Jeff discovered this when he took a field trip to research his new kitty. (Don’t worry, he had a chaperone.) And not only was the toilet non-standard, the area was flooded with cats, cats that were not happy that anyone else was there. In fact, when Jeff got out of the car he thought there was a gas leak somewhere because of all the hissing. That was when he decided to obey the signage and just drive on to the next rest stop. And that one did have a gas leak, but that’s a story for a different time.

Tune in tomorrow when Jeff reports on the state of freedom for the Wild Jackelope, and what it means to you.
