Jeff was thinking of getting his wife a bonzai kit for Christmas. However, he couldn’t remember what they were called and looked up “bound tree”. And there you go.

Well, folks. The Pumpkin will still be posting tomorrow, but the pickins may be a little slim. But remember, there’s plenty of stuff in the archives, so feel free to hang with us when your family drives you bananas.

While chained to a desk through the week and locked in a cage on the weekends Jeff has been blissfully ignorant of the coming celebration of Christ’s birth. Or the coming of winter. Or the salvation of the temple. Or whatever other possible interpretation of the holiday season seems viable to you. But the rest of us don’t have Jeff’s handy excuse for not having gifts for those around us.

Make sure you check out the IMDB page for Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, and then go buy it. Or at least recommend it to your librarian. I personally get a kick out of the review at the bottom of the page.

As an educator I’ve been intrigued by the concept of charter schools. As a human being I can’t understand a single thing about them. Even the folks that think they’re a good idea explain them as schools that take state money without being accountable for the effectiveness of their programs. I think Jeff’s interest might be in starting his own charter school as a front to make bootleg toys to sell to Santa at a cut rate. No, wait, that’s my idea. Nevermind.
