Keith Ellison, who has acheived national attention for being the first Muslim elected to Congress, has been having to listen to attacks by fellow Congressman Virgil Goode for choosing to use a Koran in his swearing in ceremony rather than the Christian Bible.
Ellison has found a way to deal with such criticism in spectacular fashion. He will be using a copy of the Koran originally owned by Thomas Jefferson, third President of the United States of America and author of the Declaration of Independence, borrowed from the Library of Congress.
Congressman Goode, representative of Jefferson’s birthplace, Albemarle County, Virginia, had no comment.
An article detailing this topic can be found in The Washington Post.
A man was washed up on a beach after a terrible shipwreck. Only a sheep and a sheepdog were washed up with him. After looking around, he realized that they were stranded on a deserted island. After being there a while, he got into the habit of taking his two animal companions to the beach every evening to watch the sun set. One particular evening, the sky was a fiery red with beautiful cirrus clouds, the breeze was warm and gentle - a perfect night for romance. As they sat there, the sheep started looking better and better to the lonely man. Soon, he leaned over to the sheep and put his arm around it. But the sheepdog, ever protective of the sheep, growled fiercely, until the man took his arm from around the sheep.
After that, the three of them continued to enjoy the sunsets together, but there was no more cuddling.
A few weeks passed by and, lo and behold, there was another shipwreck. The only survivor was Hillary Clinton. That evening, the man introduced Hillary to the evening beach ritual. It was another beautiful evening - red sky, cirrus clouds, a warm and gentle breeze perfect for a night of romance. Pretty soon, the man started to get “those feelings” again. He fought the urges as long as he could, but he finally gave in and leaned over to Hillary, cautiously and whispered in her ear…

I originally posted the script to an Abbott-and-Costello-esque routine back in September of last year. This morning I found in my email an audio version of the script with still images added to pretty it up even more, so here is a new and updated version of the Hu’s Leading China sketch.
PS - I realize that this doesn’t qualify as a flashy video, I’m still working on that.
The first time I read Jeff’s post about the hero from New York I misread “altruistic” as “autistic”. Boy did that ever change the meaning.
I’d like to make fun of Jeff for still failing to post the flashy movies, but I’m pretty excited about something else. I just got an email from a friend of mine saying that she is getting married in the spring. Of course, that means I have to fly to Germany and stay in Hamburg for a few days (oh the sacrifice), but it’s only fair, as she came to my wedding.
Jeff didn’t know about this, I hope, but I think he must have known something was in the air when he decided to post a piece of happy news. Something that affirms humans aren’t all just idiots waiting to electrocute themselves as they try to make toast in the shower.
Okay, I’m sounding sentimental. I’d prefer just mental so I think I’m done for the day.
Tune in tomorrow when Jeff tries to maintain a sense of dignity, and I’ll have none of that.
