Unpatented drug potentially cure for some cancers?

According to an article released today on NewScientist.com, that may just be true with regard to lung, breast, and brain tumors. DCA (dichloroacetate) may actually activate a reaction in a cancerous cell’s mitochondria, causing the cell to wither and die, without harming the healthy cells surrounding the tumor.

Same story was posted on CTV.CA yesterday.

On the other hand, according to a couple of documents that I found, one at the Dept of Energy’s Office of Scientific and Technical Information and at OxfordJournals.org among others, the same chemical, DCA, “causes liver damage in … mice”.

Furnishing the Man-made Island

In preparation for the coming takeover of Sealand Jeff went out looking for things worthy of a man-made island. I must commend him on that particular find. Especially due to the fact that we are going to need lots of room at dinner for all of the passports we’re going to need to issue in order to purchase the place.

In light of the fact that we haven’t actually received any donations it looks like Jeff is going to need another job. I wonder if being on the business side of the interogation table counts as job experience? If so, then Jeff should be a shoe in. And it would get him used to living on an island versus a rather large land mass, such as he lives on now.

And really, Jeff’s just peeved that he didn’t think of the $1 auction himself. Although, I do wonder about the legality of that transaction to begin with.

Jeff has been dosing himself with Tequila for years. It must come as quite the shock to finally be justified in his behavior.

I’ve never trusted Math. And now I have Einstein on my side. But didn’t he fail his math classes?

Tune in tomorrow for more funny animals and one man’s quest to reduce the world to something he can actually rule.
