Over at Grand Illusions they have some incredible stuff. Some of it is magic tricks, but a lot of it is just plain neat toys. In case anyone was wondering what to get me as a present, just pick something off of this site and I’ll be pretty happy.
I really like the old guy that presents all of the stuff in the videos. He has such a nice accent, and he is so placid that he doesn’t take anything away from the odd little spectacle he is presenting. I think that is truly a measure of just how good a presentation is. Anyone can raise a ruckus and make something lame look interesting. But you have to actually have a worthwhile demonstration to be able to just calmly talk through what’s going on and still keep people watching. And I have watched a number of those vids multiple times.
The only downside for me is that these guys are located in the UK and everything is a little pricey. I have no doubt that it’s worth it, but I have to satisfy myself with just watching someone else play with cool toys.
