I think it’s a wonderful thing when people take an active part in their government, especially when they live in a government that started with a document headed with “We the people”. However, sometimes activists miss the mark a little and ask for some slightly crazy things.
I’d like to take a look this week at some of the less than brilliant ideas people have had concerning the ruling of their country and surroundings, and maybe speculate as to what might happen if these ideas came to pass.
The obvious one is Impeaching our current President. Now, a couple years ago, this would have made some good sense, kind of. But anymore, the impeachment process would finish up right around the time that the 2008 campaigns are really ramping up. So, Bush will have already done all the damage he could do. The truly scary thing about getting Bush out of office is something most folks don’t seem to consider: President Cheney. That should send a shiver down the spine of any sensible American.
I’ll grant you that Bush is an irrational nutjob that started a war for his own private reasons and decided that Americans couldn’t be trusted, but Cheney has said the same things. Only Cheney never implied these things, he came out and said them. Cheney is one of these fellows that thinks that the government always knows more than the people that created those governments. And, of course, we all know that to be true. All you have to do is look at Prohibitioin to see that Congress has always had it’s finger on the pulse of what was best for our country.
Stay tuned this week to see some exciting news from Iraq, PETA, and the campaign for equal heights.
