No posts for yesterday

I got caught up in a BBC television program, Robin Hood, over the weekend and used yesterday for nothing more than veggitating. The program appears to operate on a similar budget to such visual wonders as Xena Warrior Princess, though it appears they reserved funds for those minor details, like casting fairly good actors and hiring actual writers to develop the script.

Something that I had entirely missed until watching the program was the number of points in the Robin Hood storyline that could be directly tied to modern events; the comparison of the the Holy Crusades to the current US conflict in the Middle East is a comparison that has been made many times before, however this program has also suggested that the Sheriff used the war overseas as an excuse to increase taxation to ridiculous levels and deny the rights of man in the name of security, as well as his occassional rant about the effects and intentions of terrorism on Britain’s attempts to exist as a land of law and order.

Overall I have to say that I am hooked. What’s even better, I still have three episodes left to go in the first season. :)
