Jeff and I are both really big Terry Pratchett fans. Well, Jeff is tall and I’m chubby so, I guess between the two of us we’re one big Terry Pratchett fan, but I think you get the idea.
To a certain extent Pratchett’s country of Uberwald is based on Germany and the Slavic countries that surround it. And one of the main features of Uberwald is the existence of “Igors”. You know who these folks are, those hunchbacked figures that tend to say, “yes, master” a lot in old horror movies. Well, while braving a foreign country I think I found evidence of an Igor civilisation.
I found copies of this statue as a tribute to the Igor gods of food all over Hamburg. Truly it must be to favor the people with well prepared foodstuffs created by artisans that appear to spend as much time carving on themselves as carving on lamb (they eat a lot of sheep in Europe for some reason). You can tell about the self made nature of the chap by the fact that his eyes aren’t on the same level and the overly square nature of his digits. That coupled with the way he appears to be more than friends with that sign of his. Or maybe I’m just seeing things.
Tune in tomorrow for my niece’s birthday, and a look at Einstein and his barber. Seriously.
