Thought for the day ~ Robert Benchley

Drinking makes such fools of people, and people are such fools to begin with, that it’s compounding a felony.

Independence Day

Well, here in the States today is the day to celebrate our freedom from oppressive regimes that tax us without representation and conscript us into military service to fight wars that no one thinks are sensible. Hmmm… Maybe we should rethink some of that.

I like to think of the U.S. as a little like Great Cthulhu, a tremendous sleeping entity that will devour those that stands in it’s way. I also like the idea of an all powerful entity that is also functionally retarded, that seems pretty appropriate.

Anyway, this Independence Day I urge you to make a real show of independence. Go out and meet a Muslim, Christian, Jew, or whatever it is that you are not, and find out what makes you different from them. At the same time take note of those things that make you the same. We should be an independent nation full of individuals. Not a bastard nation full of islands of contempt for things that are different.

And remember, if you don’t do something to tame a Great Old One, then there will certainly be hell to pay when it wakes up. Kids first.

Stay tuned, the fourth of July always presents us with lots of pics and vids of people playing with fire in an amusing fashion.
