Internet has been down a lot lately, so I’ve been playing with some video and thinking about random stuff instead.
Spending a lot of time without any real contact to the outside world can make you a little depressed. You suddenly discover that sleeping 16-18 hours a day doesn’t seem all that strange. If that’s the case, you’re probably depressed. Trust me, I oughta know. Some days my only excuse to get out of bed is good old Drunken Pumpkin, and some times that isn’t enough. But I have found a way to alleviate most instances of Depression. Bear in mind that this simply won’t work if you have chronic depression, for that you need to seek professional help. If you haven’t been able to get dressed for the last week, this probably won’t help. On the other hand, I doubt it will hurt.
By the way, this really isn’t a joke. Here’s how it works:
Step one: stand up, that always helps.
Step two: raise both arms above your head. No, really.
Step three: bend your knees a little and gently sway from side to side.
Step four: Let out a low “oooo” sort of noise, like a howler monkey. Seriously, this will help.
By this point you should be feeling a little bit better. Why? Because most depression is caused by inactivity, and now you’re doing something. I’ll grant you it’s something completely idiotic, but it’s something. Oddly enough, the idiotic nature of this helps quite a bit as well. Most people when depressed feel a bit sad, so much so that the words are synonymous in popular culture, and it’s really quite difficult to feel terribly sad when you are doing something completely silly. Especially if you’re the one that initiated the silly behavior.
Stay tuned for a video demonstration of the Howler Monkey treatment.
