Oh, how I’d love for this to be true.

John Kanzius developed a radio frequency generator as a novel cancer treatment. His research in targeting cancer cells with metallic nanoparticles then destroying them with radio-frequency is proceeding at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and at the University of Texas’ MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Manuscripts updating the cancer research are in preparation for publication in coming months, Mr. Kanzius said.

While Mr. Kanzius was demonstrating how his generator heated nanoparticles, someone noted condensation inside the test tube and suggested he try using his equipment to desalinate water.

So, Mr. Kanzius said, he put sea water in a test tube, then trained his machine on it, producing an unexpected spark. In time he and laboratory owners struck a match and ignited the water, which continued burning as long as it remained in the radio-frequency field.

Thought for the day ~ Joseph Baretti

I hate mankind, for I think myself one of the best of them, and I know how bad I am.

Buckminster Fuller

I’m not sure why, but I’ve been thinking about Bucky Fuller a lot lately. I’ll grant that I don’t know an abundance about our only modern DaVinci, but what I do know is that the man was not quite of the right time. I’m not sure when it will be that people will truly appreciate his mad genius. The major difference between DaVinci and Fuller is that DaVinci had a better excuse for his inventions not being built, the technology simply did not exist. What is truly sad is that everything Fuller suggested was feasible and functional, but it wasn’t as marketable as the folks with the capital wanted. So, our way towards cars that get 100 miles to the gallon and windmills that provided all of our power needs were squashed.

I think one reason I’ve been thinking about Fuller may have something to do with one of the prisons that I work at. This particular prison has a magical ability to be alarmingly windy even on the calmest of days. And when the wind has kicked up elsewhere the winds can actually lift you off of your feet, a phenomena that got me thinking of windmills. Prior to our governor selling all of the states assets in order to balance the budget for a few months most of the prisons in our state were fairly self-sufficient. Whenever I get out of my car and have to chase papers down, I wonder why that prison doesn’t power itself with a windmill or two. Then I look to the right and see the airforce base, and there’s a bit of a hint. But if they used the Fuller windmills they wouldn’t have that sort of a problem. At least, assuming Fuller wasn’t completely out of his mind. And anyone that allows themselves to be called “Bucky” isn’t necessarily rational.

Well, October is rapidly approaching, and that’s everyones favorite time here at the pumpkin. Why, you ask? Because lots Google searches for pumpkins yields lots of new readers. And maybe by then we can sort out a way to make some money, but I doubt it. If you haven’t made a dime in over a year, your venture p
