The tradition is that you save the top tier for your first wedding anniversary (then you pig out, and pass-out from a sugar crash before the evening really gets started, but I digress.) Have to set aside a specific freezer just to store a chunk of cake for a year. Maybe everything from the hips up is actually plastic, sitting atop the top tier of the cake.
