Drunken Pumpkin is literally a playground for myself and Pyrophage - we’d both tinkered around with designing websites in the past, but utilizing drastically different approaches. Pyrophage has some history playing around with graphic design and thus was inclined to use WYSIWYG web design software (that’s What You See Is What You Get). I tend to prefer to monkey with things in terms of code and numbers, and only look at the output to see if there are changes that I need to make.
After a couple of months of trading pages and working cooperatively on several page designs and site structures, in June of 2006 we registered Drunken-Pumpkin.com, a site centered around the idea that others might be entertained by the materials and musings with which we amuse ourselves continuously.
Sure, we considered some other names for our site, but Google.com is apparently taken, and while I thought that DeerPimp.com was hilarious I had trouble selling my friend on it’s many virtues.
Our site design follows standard format for a blog, in that the most recent material posted is at the very top of the main index. The reason that we decided on such a basic layout is that it requires much less maintenance on our part, allowing us to experiment with design and features.
Our webhost is DreamHost, a good value that I would heartily recommend if you are considering a site of your own.
We use WordPress’s file management system, which is precisely why the blog layout of the site is so low maintenance. I do have one or two performance concerns, but overall it has served us well.
If the look of the page shifts periodically, its almost certainly because of something that we’ve done to it in our efforts to find an outlet for our creative drives. Unfortunately, that driving creativity does not always have us heading in a solid direction. If you find errors please feel free to contact us.

March 5th, 2008 - New addition to all pages great and small on the Drunken Pumpkin…Top Ten Posts! I’ll give you a moment to calm down…
The top ten posts listing is exactly what you would assume that it is, links to our ten most popular posts since March 5th at about 10:30pm. I may be clearing the counts periodically, but haven’t decided on that for sure yet.
The main reason for the excitement is that this is not a tool found on the net, this is a Dru Pum original. It doesn’t appear to be causing any performance issues and I’ve loaded it on a number of different terminals and all looks good from where I’m sitting. As always, let me know if you find a problem or error.
